Contractor for NMCI (Navy and Marine Corps Intranet) initial phases doing field work at Patuxent Naval Air Station and Webster Field. NMCI is now regarded as the largest intranet in the world!
We also worked as a Logistics Analyst developing data-driven applications for Patuxent Naval Air Station and developed the first web based Night Vision Goggles Inventory System for the Vision Laboratory.
We worked in the Telecommunications industry engineering new web applications and modifying existing web application features for the management of customers including CRM, Caller ID, Dispatching Technicians and more.
Our humble beginning started as a Sole Proprietorship in 2008 when offered a lucrative contract in the Mining Industry developing reports using data collected from over 20 mines across the states of West Virginia and Kentucky.
In 2015, we developed a Highwall Mining sytem to display data collected from Continuous Miners from various locations underground. In the Fall of 2015, we created Athena Blue Solutions, LLC.
We've been asked several times where our name, Athena Blue, comes from. In 2008, when starting as a Sole Proprietorship, we wanted to incorporate blue to honor our military (civilian) beginnings. The color blue is commonly used in the Navy: 1) for obvious
reasons and 2) it is the color least likely to change among the various types of color blindness (Notice the blue trend in social media: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and so forth?)
Athena comes from wanting to use an owl in our original (and upcoming) logo and The Shield of Athena in Greek mythology incorporates an owl. The image pictured is a silver tetradrachm coin at the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon depicting the Owl of Athena (circa 480–420 BC).
